Rhododendrons in Greenwich Park

The magnolias are over for another year, but the rhododendrons have started – gorgeous few weeks ahead!

RHS Wisley

I took a day off planting and visited RHS Wisley with friends. If you are nearby do visit – the orchids are on display in the Glasshouse and beautiful.

Planting the Flint Wall

I have finished the planting and have started adding woodchip to keep in the moisture and keep out the weeds – now the plants need to grow into the vision below!

Planting Ideas for the Steps Beds

DeakinLock proposals for the beds on either side of steps – love these ideas! This area enjoys a lot of sunshine – one small bed is next to the dining room will be visible from inside the house; and on the other side of the steps the bed is against the fence and ‘stopped’ by the Viburnum Plicatum which I hope will take after being transplanted.

On the other side of the steps, against the fence, is a similar planting.

The Fence Bed

The bed along the fence moves from sunshine to shade, and includes a Viburnum Plicatum (which has been transplanted) and the damson tree. It is difficult planting but thankfully DeakinLock are immensely helpful and knowledgeable – and patient!

And in the sunnier part of the bed there will be grasses through which the knautia may spread.

Planting Ideas for the Patio Bed and the Flint Wall

Some new ideas – very different! Firstly the Patio Bed which is surrounded by paving and which enjoys partial sun during some of the day. It really needs something scented, or perhaps startling.

The Flint Wall Bed is mainly shaded, but also protected and I think this is the final decision on the planting.
