Six on Saturday in Villafranca del Bierzo

I am relieved to say that I am still enjoying summer weather in Northern Spain where the trees are green, but with a tinge of gold and the mornings are quite sharp. This week my Six on Saturday is all about plants hanging over balconies or under windows, and trees in streets.

1. The petunias over the balcony of the Town Hall and Theatre in Villafrance del Bierzo were stunning!

2.There were flowers everywhere I looked in this small, but very important town on the Camino de Santiago. Here are more petunias, this time hanging over the balcony of a private house in the same town, Villafranca del Bierzo.

3.And yet more petunias, of a different colour, under a window in a private house.

4.Hibiscus is grown in the parks, and even as a small tree along some town streets!

5.Magnolias are also grown as street trees and now, at the end of summer, are adorned with large and rather beautiful fruits.

6. And finally I found a Cactus (unknown provenance) hanging over a balcony as well and just loved the contrast of colour and texture – not a very horticultural description which I hope The Propagator will forgive!

I hope you like my Six on Saturday and I look forward to reading about your six!

    • Thank you! And what a beautiful garden you have! The dahlias here in northern Spain are also absolutely gorgeous at the moment – it is a very beautiful part of Spain. I hope you will visit again!

    • Well, you have some very beautiful plants in your garden… And yes, the petunias here are amazing, as are the roses and the dahlias, and the streets in springtime, lined with magnolia trees, must be absolutely amazing!
