The Riverview Walk in SE London runs along the River Pool from the Retail Park in Bell Green in Southend to Catford Bridge Railway Station. Or you can walk the other way around if you prefer! It is a useful route during the winter because the path is paved while the surrounding woods or grassy areas can be extremely muddy and slippery. It is also part of the Waterlink Way which runs from the River Thames at Deptford Creek to South Norwood Country Park.
Southend Lane to the Retail Park Bridge
You can join the Riverview Walk along the River Pool at Southend Lane. The river comes from Southend Park and flows under Southend Lane and under the railway line. Then the river, and the walk, widen out into the Linear Park alongside the Retail Park. And somewhere along this stretch of the River Pool I think that Adams Rill may debauch from Mayow Park.

Retail Park to mid-way bridge on Riverview Walk
On this section of the walk the river meanders along a shallow ‘valley’, with the Bellingham Estate on the right (and Bellingham Green not far away!) People enjoy the park in different ways – cycling, walking, just sitting, or, if you are a child, romping in the play park and play ground.

Mid-way bridge to the Confluence
This is the quietest section of the walk, with the River Pool on one side and the railway line and the Bellingham Estate on the other. The River Pool is a delight and quite unexpected for this urban area.

Confluence to Catford Bridge Station
The shortest stretch of the Riverview Walk in SE London is from the Confluence Bridge, through the Wickes and Halfords Industrial Estate and across the road to Catford Bridge Station. At this point, if you need a longer walk, you can carry on along the River Ravensbourne in Ladywell Fields.
And along this stretch of the river the OS Map of 1897 shows a vineyard, roughly where today’s development of The Vineries stands. It isn’t on the OS Map of 1870, however, and I can’t find any information about a vineyard in Catford on the internet.
