The fortnight Garden in late June looks a bit like a jungle! Despite the lack of rain it seems to be thriving – I donโ€™t really understand it. What does Six on Saturday think about this?

From the front door

I love opening the front door in the early mornings and finding masses of colour. The alchemilla are in full flood and I am hoping to introduce them into the City Garden which needs some more colour in the summer.

Bees and Butterflies

The lavender, Hidcote, has lovely fat flower heads and they absolutely crammed with bees and butterflies at the moment. I donโ€™t really want to pick them for drying.

Roses

American Beauty is sprawling over the fence and very pretty. I wish I had something similar in London – maybe there is a corner where I could squeeze it in…

The Ferns

The ferns are growing in full sun, and looking good. And here the agapanthus donโ€™t get massacred by snails. Looking at this, it is hard to believe it is the Fortnight Garden in late June and we are starting to turn towards winter…

Threatened invasion

The Japanese anemones at also thriving and threatening to take over. I regularly thin them in the autumn and they just as regularly reappear. They do well on the chalk in London as well.

Fruit

The fruit is coming along nicely too.

And that is The Fortnight Garden at the end of June. It is hard to believe what has happened over the past fifteen years!
