It is the end of April in London – where is the time going? Time to report on progress in the garden, and Six on Saturday.

Central bed

The new bed is coming along slowly. The arum lilies are slowly coming out, as are the acanthus. But I think it will be next year before we see any flowers. In the meantime there are other bits and pieces to give some interest, and fill the gaps.

Hot bed

The soil here is shallow, and very chalky. I have planted grasses, sedums, verbena bonariensis, lychnis, and geraniums. Oh, and euphorbias! have I put in too much? I will have to wait and see.

Fence bed

This bed is now planted. Today I put in a Miscanthus in the far corner, and now I just have to water, and wait.

Brunnera โ€˜Jack Frost’

I just love the leaves! They are planted in the garden, but also in a pot next to the table, so that I can enjoy them – with a glass of wine. And yes, I am hoping for warm summer evenings this year.

Bling!

Well, we need a bit of cheer, which mean geraniums, daisies, and lobelias.

Viburnum Plicatum

I grew this from a single shoot and I think I am going to succeed!

And here I am, nearly at the end of April in London, and sending good wishes to Jim at Six on Saturday.
