What a resourceful man The Propagator is! Somehow we see new plants in his garden every week! By comparison I offer some further growth this week, only three new plants, and some jam.
I am in The Fortnight Garden again to go to a concert over the weekend and that also means baking, and because baking takes gardening time the cakes are going to be included in ‘Six on Saturday’!
The City Garden is starting to look very abundant, even messy in places, leading me to think about changes that will be needed in the autumn and spring, but in the meantime I am pleased with several ideas, and particularly these ‘Six on Saturday’!
I am unexpectedly in The Fortnight Garden again – after only one week! – and so my ‘Six on Saturday’ comes from Suffolk again. The garden is growing up, or perhaps it is just that I am finding the right plants for the various corners, and then leaving them alone to settle down. It has taken a while and I have made mistakes but this year I get a real thrill from looking out of the window or just wandering about at different times of the day. It is actually a very small garden but very densely planted.
This week I am joining Six on Saturday with ‘Six Views of Echinacea’ in The Fortnight Garden. Saturday has turned wet and chilly and it was a good opportunity to play!
I was hoping for warm weather not very long ago and here it is!
The bees are gobbling up the lavender and knautia madedonica! And the clematis ‘Prince Charles’ is making a brave effort, but I think suffering from my neglect – the flowers are quite modest. On the more productive side the quinces promise to be abundant again, there seem to be enough plums for jam, and we are going to have a fair number of pears. And those are my ‘Six on Saturday’! Do check what other keen gardeners are collecting!
This week Six on Saturday includes two grasses, two plants grown for their leaves, and hydrangeas in tubs. My garden is quite small and so quite a few pots are necessary, in sunny spots, in empty corners, in the Fernery, and just as ‘overflow’ from the rest of the garden. So here we are again, a week later and at the start of a warm and sunny day – BUT – the sun has turned round and is heading south again – too soon!
This week my contribution to Six on Saturday is about shades of pink, with a touch of blue.
I have been following The Propagator for a while now and today I decided to ‘have a go’, so here are my Six on Saturday!
