The espalier Conference pear has produced an amazing crop in its fourth year – four dozen pears! And they taste wonderful!
I proudly photographed my swelling Conference pears and discovered an unwelcome visitor! A pear slug – the internet tells me these slugs are not good and I should get rid of them. Not quite sure how at this point.
Here the fruits are starting to swell.
There the crabapple has just come into full bloom.
Autumn arrived suddenly, two weeks ago while we were sleeping. It is a season which always feels like a journey to me, rather tired and messy, although still filled with gifts, and a journey which will take me into the darkness of winter. It feels like a last chance to ‘see’ before my eyes turn inwards.
