Isn’t this beautiful? It is the seed pod of Anenome ‘Hadspens Abundance’, about which I wrote to my friend at some length last year, and it is literally bursting with life. It is a good thought on an evening when someone else enters into the shadows of my life.

Here in Suffolk it is wet, wet, wet, but on the other side of the world there is snow, snow, snow, although not yet the icicles of previous winters.
In Cratfield we are on a hill, but the Waveney Valley is flooding, although not on the scale of the West Country.
These two baking explorations were not successful. Karen, whose blog I much admire, baked an interesting Marbled Rye Bread recently, but I found the taste too salty for my liking, and the texture rather dry – this was no doubt because I did not add sufficient liquid. I could taste the cocoa and didn’t care…
