Isn’t this beautiful? It is the seed pod of Anenome ‘Hadspens Abundance’, about which I wrote to my friend at some length last year, and it is literally bursting with life. It is a good thought on an evening when someone else enters into the shadows of my life.

Bi-colour Bread & Yoghurt Cake
These two baking explorations were not successful. Karen, whose blog I much admire, baked an interesting Marbled Rye Bread recently, but I found the taste too salty for my liking, and the texture rather dry – this was no doubt because I did not add sufficient liquid. I could taste the cocoa and didn’t care for the flavour.

I need a successful Yoghurt Cake for the Cratfield Open Weekend, 14 & 15 June this year. This recipe by Mary Berry was posted on the internet and thought I would be safe. Sadly the taste is much too sweet for my liking, and I couldn’t taste the lemon either. I didn’t bother to ice the cake – I cannot recommend this recipe!

The local birds are in for a treat over the next few days!
